It has been a while since I have had a proper post..

Thinking about the past year, I realized many things

These two years I have learnt so much, experienced so much..

Most importantly I have learnt how to appreciate those who are near to me- my family, my friends, my dog...=)

So many things I have taken for granted.

I stumbled across the blogs of some of my former classmates.. Reading them, looking at pictures, I see what I have been missing out on. I definitely don't think I would really like taking SPM, but maybe, just maybe I would, just to graduate with those I have known all my life, just to go to prom with those whom I have loved all my life.

You cant turn back the clock, can you? But you certainly reminisce about the times you had together.

school is going great.. i started my college apps.. still havent heard back.. my grades are being kept up

work is good.. im a server now.. i need a raise.. =) i get tips.. sometimes

So.. update on my life..

I guess the update on my Europe trip will have to wait.

I have to get settled into my new host family.

So for those who don't know, I moved in with the Harveys for the second and last year of high school.

Of course the Rosentreters and I did NOT have a falling out. Whoever thought that is dumb.

They suggested that it is better for me to have another host family so that when fall break of holiday breaks come along, and the dorms in close, I have a back up family to stay with.

Anyhow, as of now, I'm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with Alison and Peyton and her family. Let me just give you a brief profile of the family.

The girl who is in high school with me is Morgan. She is a year younger than me in school and in age. She's kinda quiet and shy and it takes a while to get her going but when she does get going, all's good.

Peyton, age 7, is one of the hyper-est, loudest seven-year-old you will ever meet. She's so outgoing that sometimes it's scary. COmplete opposite of Morgan.

Alison and Kevin. I dont know how old they are. =) they re pretty cool people. Protective of their kids.

Jackson the dog. i dont know how old he is either. A dog who loves to cuddle and get in your face and on your lap. He's a big dog. Labrador and golden retriever mix. He's really attached since he was an abandoned dog.


so thats the family..

I have my own room at the Harveys. They have wi-fi which i can't seem to access for some reason..so i leech off the neighbour's. Im sure he won't mind since he s a computer technician. so if he really doesnt want people to leech his internet, he KNOWS how to set up security-enabled-networks.

Im flying to Chicago, IL to see my sister tomorrow! I can't wait! Havent seen her since Xmas..

Okay..

We left from the Charlotte Airport to JFK airport in NY. From there we took an 9 hour plane right to the CITY OF LIGHTS, PARIS. On the flight there i watched movies all throughout the flight. i watched.. Fool's Gold (pretty silly) and i watched Mulan!!!! I LOVE MULAN!!! =) somehow i think i watched other movies but i cant think of it. we had like a few hours layover in Paris.. i didnt get to go the city.. YET.. but from there, we flew to Munich, Germany.

i Love Germany. its so.. appealing. we were in munich for 2 nights. When we first arrived there we lugged all our luggage to the hotel via subways and WALKING.. omgawd i seriously wanted to chuck my luggage and just leave it there. AWAY WITH THE DOGGONE BAGS. We reached our hotel. there was this phillipine lady who talked to me and she was excited coz i was asian and was from her region.. haha. she's married to a german.

Our first day there, we went to the Englishgarten. meaning. ENGLISH GARDEN. and the park was really pretty.. it had a BIG pond. or a small lake.. couldnt decide. but we had dinner there.. german sausages and for the guys+ Leena, BEERRRR!! i havent developed my pallete for Beer.. YET.. who knows if i ever will..

Nyway.. the second day in Germany, we made a little side trip to Dachau. For those of you who are not aware, Dachau has a Concentration Camp existing from the Nazi's reign in Germany. It is by far one of THE MOST depressing places I have ever been too. The saddest thing about it is that they take human life so systematically. Incinerators are built beside gas chambers, nooses are hung in front of the incinerators. Its just so wrong. Doctors who are working with the SS see it as EASY, killing all the people.. i have a quote i took picture of.. but right now my butts too heavy to go get the camera.. =)

Dachau really makes you think about how fortunate you are. On the gate to the concentration camp that says in german, Work brings freedom -- Arbeit macht frei. Sadly, those who work.. are almost never set free.. they almost always end up dead. I got to see the prisoners barracks.. Rooms that are small and dark. "interrogation rooms''. There was a vibe in the are. it was really sad and depressing.. There were pictures of the starved prisoners' corpses. Gaunt - literally skin and bones. and the stories about jewish children, nearly made me cry..

This is really depressing so I'll leave it at that.. i might talk about it some more as it impacted me alot. sorta. but as of right now. i think im gonna stop

Well yet again.. i have not blogged in.. hmm.. FOREVER?
oh well thats the way it is..
i dont have the time!!
so last weeek..
we departed from Lake Norman High school at about 7.3o pm ish..
wednesday night.. the 23rd..
so we were on schedule to depart for the Happiest Place on Earth
The bus ride was at first alright
and then it kinda grew unbearable..
Chorus kids shouldnt be travelling with CHORUS KIDS
we SING too MUCH..
and we DONT sing the same song..
hahaha.. oh well..
that wasnt the bad part
the worst was trying to sleep.
omgawd.. the seats didnt recline..
and i didnt know where to put my feet on account of my bag not fitting in the overhead
and my laptop being in there wasnt allowed (by me) to be put up there..
and omgawd.. we HAD to sleep.
coz we were going to one of the many parks.. in the morning.
and honestly who would wanna go to a DISNY PARK BEING SLEEPY!!!
definitely me.. NOT..

so on the bus we watched two movies which I ADORE
enchanted. and august rush.
two AWESOME movies. <3
i think i would have enjoyed it more if some ppl werent so ahem itchy.
so much to complain.
this isnt first class airplane okay!!

ANYWAY..
i attempted sleep..
tried sitting with my knees in the aisle with my whole body leaning agasint the back of the seat.
Successful.. till i had a kink on the left side of my neck.
Sat like a normal person.. and leaned my head on the right .. KINK
sat like a normal person, put my backpack on my knee and used is as a Pu Chim (bolster pillow)
the MOST successful.. which resulted in about 3 to 4 hours of still-being-able-to-know-whats-going-on-sleep.. oh well. mayb some other time i ll get two seats to myself..

we reached where we were supposed to reach at 5 in the morning. 2 hours early.. so we PARKED for 2 hours at the rest area.. coz we were sposed to go for breakfast at our hotel at some certain time. so we parked.. and i changed into my park clothes.. a tennis skort (skirt+shorts) and my black esprit tank-top

applied sun screen, brushed teeth, comb hair.. and we were OFF TO THE BREAKFAST PLACE..

anyway im kinda tired.. from PROM. that however is a WHOLE DIFF ENTRY..
i need to go to bed.

you might be wondering why i m speaking french.. well.. basically.. its coz.. i got kicked out of spanish. and i m 'forced' to take french.. I originally planned to take spanish as my foreign language in school.. and there didnt seem to be a problem until my 2nd day of the new semester.. one of the school administrators came and asked the upperclassemen to leave..

the reason is coz the class was only meant for frenchmen oops i mean freshmen.. and upperclassmen are not allowed to be in that class.. just so you know..

9th graders here are called Freshmen (first year in high-school)
10th graders are called Sophomores
11th graders (ME) are called Juniors
and
12th graders are called Seniors..

yea so.. spanish I was in the freshmen academy or the freshmen hallway.. where most of the classes are.. so i wasnt spose to be there.. and the only available class was French.. unless i wanted Spanish with the other upperclassmen but that would mean my whole schedule revamped.. and i wouldnt be able to take Performance Ensemble..

this semester i have

Chemistry Honors ( BOOM goes the chemicals) and YUUCK goes the stink bombs
English III ( i dont think many would enjoy english here)
Performance ensemble (arr.. i shouldnt have dropped creative writing.. BLAH.. i have to PLAY the piano)
and
FRENCH I.. bon soir

so thats my sad little tale.. i know a few french phrases.. by the end of my senior year.. i hopefully would be able to speak french.. haih.. i wanted spanish so bad.. YEEBA YEEBA ANDELE ANDELE.=( oh well..

nothing i can do..except visit Paris and the Towr Eiffel and Luxembourg. and RATATOUILLE.

its hard.. learning a new language.. when you re 16.. its so foreign.. and how am i goin to associate french with nything.. BOO..

i wish Lake Norman offered Itallian or Japanese.. arrrr...

my room. is BRRR.. cold

for some reason.. its cold.. i like it at night when i can cuddle up in my blanket.. and still feel warm under the covers.. but during the day.. i dont want to cuddle coz it doesnt feel right.. UNLESS its raining.. haha

so whats been happening lately..

hmm. mommy had an operation.. major surgery.. but shes doing well.. seems like everyones goin for operations lately.. or being admitted to hospital.. hmm.. weird..

Chinese New Year is around the corner.. more like 2 more weeekss!!

makes me miss home a little bit more than usual.. all the chinese food.. all the cookies.. all the decorations.. and ALL THE ANG PAOS.. but the best part is.. seeing ALL.. and i do mean ALL your relatives during CNY.. all the cousins who have been too busy with college.. or have flown overseas to study flock back home for the festivities.. all the relatives who live in Penang or Australia or Singapore come home to celebrate..

then you get to see the grandparents.. or in my case.. grandmothers..

you can look on their faces how happy they are to see all their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren together...

then the COUSINS.. and nieces and nephews...

on my moms side.. the family is wicked big.. the oldest is mayb 40? and the youngest.. is probably only 2.. yea.. but you see them run around screaming and misbehaving.. its actually quite funny.. until someone starts crying.. which happens fairly often when we re together.. buts all bits and pieces of a happy chinese new year. =)

on my dads side. i have only one married cousin.. and she has a daughter who is 3? or 4? [signs of aging.. you forget your nieces/nephews ages] blah.. nyway.. the youngest cousin on dads side.. is 2.. adorable-ness.. or mayb he s 3.. lolx.. ANYWAY.. its pretty fun too.. esp when cousins from singapore come down.. coz the age group is closer to mine.. and me and XH and whoever else wants to join.. would have either a tv marathon or a computer marathon.. where we watch shows..be it Jesse McCartney or Full House.. or just plain music videos..

this is the FIRST [and i foresee many more to come] chinese new year that im going to miss.. =(

but my good wishes will still remain.. GONG XI FA CHAI.. have a prosperous chinese new year.. blessed with joy, peace, love, good health and prosperity.. AND good food. (cheeky grin)

Ski trip

Aha! the long awaited post of my ski trip. =)

lets see if i can remember all the details..

arr...

we left mooresville NC on Xmas around 10 am.. drove to the airport. cant remember what time we boarded the plane.. but i remember the plane ride being a rather pleasant one. nobody sat in the 2 seats next to me.. so.. i had room to occupy all 3 seats.. we had a layover somewhere.. dont exactly remember nymore. BLAH. but when we finally reached Denver, Colorado. it was dark. and it was COLD.. and there was SNOW.

and it was good snow. powdery kind of snow. light. so we went to the car rental place and rented a minivan.. omgawd.. tight squeeze. and had to drive up to leadville...10,152 ft above sea level. coz of the elevation. all the liquids we were carrying, eg: toothpaste, shampoo (in tubes) squirted when you opened them.. lolx.. it was actually quite funny..

when we reached leadville.. it was past midnight.. and there was NO WHERE TO EAT..all the shops were closed.. sucked BIG TIME. we were cold and hungry.. so we went to our hotel. and it so happened the hotel had held a xmas party for its employees.. and they had some hor'devours.. it was actually quite good.. very hungry.. scarfed some food down.. very tired.. went to bed

the interesting thing about where we stayed was.. it wasnt a fancy schmancy hotel.. it USED TO BE.. keyword = vintage.. yeap.. it was a very fancy hotel back in its day.. mayb the 1800s? i dont know exactly.. but it was the time where women still wore those big skirts with underwires..

ANYWAY.. we had the biggest room or should i say SUITE in the whole hotel.. it was the corner room.. and it had 2 rooms with a connecting bathroom.. it reminded me of the bathroom jie and i, and babe used to share.. kids had one room and the parents had the other.. so all 5 kids in one.. and 2 parents in the other..

NEXT DAY- 26th Dec 2007

we went to the ski rental area.. which was conveniently just across the road.. one thing i have to say about colorado-ians. they STOP FOR ANYONE.. lolx.. well generally in US .. pedestrians have the right of way.. but it doesnt mean everyone will stop for you.. whereas in colorado.. everyone stops for you to cross the damn road.. lolx..

but i got fitted into my ski boots.. which by the way are not very comfortable.. those things are like rollerblades minus the wheels and plus weight... they were heavy.. and chunky.. and made you very clumsy-ish.. and my skies were actually the shorter ones.. they were about up to my collarbone height.. and they too were heavy.. after everyone else got fitted with their gear.. we drove up to Ski Cooper.. the ski resort

i got my lesson together with jie.. our instructor jim was nice and he was funny.. then after the lesson.. both of use practiced on the bunny slope AKA the easy slope.. and then HOT CHOCOLATE.. which was super sweet.. i only could manage to drink half the cup.. jelak after drinking such a sweet cup.. and the weather was AMAZING.. the skies were blue and the sun was shining.. perfect day for skiing.. Supposedly Colorado is known for its blue skies..

later that night.. we had dinner.. if i m not mistaken we went to Rosie's BrewPub.. good stuff.. =)

next day - 27th Dec.

oh my poor muscles.. how they ached.. actually it wasnt so much aching.. it was just my thigh muscles and my arms hurt a little.. i guessed i was literally pushing myself a leeetle too hard.. but thighs hurt from bending forward.. sandra would know what i m talking about.. lolx

we went back to SKi Cooper.. we went on the bunny slope agian.. tryin to turn properly and coming to a halt.. and braking and STOPPING.. blah.. i thought i was gettin the hang of it. jie was gettin the hang of it pretty good tho.. then eric suggested we get on the green slope..

FYI.. slopes on ski areas have their levels of difficulty.. so green are the easy slopes, blue are a leeetle bit harder.. and black are the hardest.. so AS I WAS SAYING.. eric suggested we get on the green slopes.. i remember the name of it.. it was Molly Mayfield.. that was the name of the wretched slope... me being a beginner and all.. omgawd.. it was too hard for me.. HELLO it was like my SECOND DAY OF SKIING.. i kept falling.. my skis kept flying off.. i was so @#$%^ frustrated.. i was so ready to give up and just sit there and bawl my eyes out.. the was how frustrated i was.. and i saw jie going down slowly BUT making it down.. eee.. i was even more frustrated..that she was gettin it and i wasnt..since i was the sportier one compared to her.. grrr.. then i made it down.. slowly.. s..l...o..w..l....y.. but i MADE IT DOWN.. took me freaking 10 hours to get down.. well not that long.. mayb 45 minutes?

Then we had dinner and we went to bed..

Next day.. 28th Dec

we went to copper mountain.. it was a bigger mountain.. and it was a dense crowd.. jie hurt her ankle so she decided to stay in.. so i went to the beginners slope.. no way was i going to go on greens after the disappointing day the day before.. so i bought my own ticket.. and WALKED ABOUT 7 minutes west-bound.. 7 minutes you might think is nothing.. go to %^(* try walking in the COLD where it is ELEVATED in the SNOW carrying SKIS wearing SKI BOOTS.. it seems like an eternity.. and i was ALONE coz everyone else went to other slopes.. and i only had a map.. and lolx.. confession time.. i ve never used a map in my entire life.. the only map i comprehend.. is the directory in the malls.. so i was pretty proud of myself =)

when i got there.. LO BEHOLD.. the ski attendant was cute.. and the slope was easy enough for me.. and there wasnt a crowd AND here s the best part.. there was a warming shack.. it was like a small pondok with walls and HEATING.. and i went up the lift like 3 million times and down the slopes like a PRO.. was happy.. and did i mention.. the ski attendant was soo cute.. ahaha

and that just made me happy.. i dont know how long i was out there.. probably for about 3 hours.. but i really was enjoying myself so much.. when it was time to leave.. i hiked back to the lodge and had a sandwich and a mocha.. bleargh.. coffee is gross..gives me caffeine headaches..

I ll continue the last 3 days of my ski trip tomorrow or smth.. now that i m DONE with tests.. and its exam week.. and its pure bliss.. ehehe.. i have pics.. which i ve already posted on facebook.. who ever has facebook you can go see.. i have loads of pics there.. it hink blogger takes too long to upload pictures..

exciting aint it..

i just saw sandra's blog and it reminded me of MY ski trip in Colorado..

all that snow.. honestly? i actually do kinda miss it..

even the cold weather..

here in mooresville..

its stinking cold sometimes.. but cold doesnt feel right without snow..

oh well..

its warm here..

i can get away with short and a long sleeved t.. its that warm.. in WINTER..

Anyway.. im gonna have and EOC (end of Course) exam for Algebra II this tuesday.. its the NC state exam

i hope i dont bomb it..

i think if you fail the EOC you dont get credit for the course you took

AND I M PASSING THAT CLASS..

WITH AN A..

i have a 94 in that class.

so i better stinking PASS with at least a 94%

ugh.. i m nervous about it.

i can do MOST/MAJORITY/95% OF THE QUESTIONS

but you know how MAATH is..

it deceives you... TRICKS YOU, MAKES YOU LOOK STUPID WHEN YOU DONT GET THE ANSWeR..

so i better ACE the test..

i know i will

imma beast like that..

Oh.. and all you ppl who say i m getting fat, who keep TEASING ME ABOUT IT...

FYI.. i gonna lose weight.. just.. you WAIT (henry higgins!)

so not gonna give you the satisfaction of seeing a fat Elena..Hmph

i have a 97% in my world history

and i have so far 104% in my chorus..
